RPI Day 7 - Thinking

Today has been great. We had lots of time to practise and use what we were learning about and putting it into our planning.

The graphic organisers for different tasks will be/have been super helpful. I think they will be very useable for my year 3/4 class whether we do it online or hard copy.

I have linked this to my shared reading plan for this week. I think my class will really enjoy having a go at this.

This session has helped me to think deeper about the activities that I can do with my class and how to extend their thinking and also give them task that they can do when they aren't with a teacher.

The overview of thinking opportunities slide will be really helpful to check what thinking levels are for different activities.

When we were discussing analysing I liked the part about zooming in and zooming out. I think I find it easier and more often do the zooming in so I will focus on zooming out when I plan my lessons.

I also find the critical literacy questions a great resource to help when planning my lessons because they are catergorised it helps me make sure I don't always focus on one aspect and not the others.

  1. Hi Lauren, Great that you found the day to be so practical and you are able to see clearly where these elements will fit into your current practise. I like the ida you had of using a mix of online and paper graphic organisers. It's nice to mix it up for our more artistic students who like to get creative in hard copy. I also liked you idea of having the list of strategies for HOT open as you plan so that the task fits the learning and also so that you are making sure to use a range of different strategies. Critical literacy is such a big part of the curriculum refresh that we have a lot of work to do in this space. The questions are a great place to start.
